A strong statement

An anecdote

A statistic or fact

A question

An exaggeration or outrageous statement


Main Body



Now write the main body of your piece and use techniques such as…



Hypothetical instance (imagine that…suppose that…what if?)

Make your point clear

Use background information where necessary and you could try listing your points such as firstly, secondly, finally…

Compare or contrast to other instances if appropriate

Analyse the problem

Include your rebuttal of the opposing point (your reason why their point is incorrect)



Conclusion



Make your point clear and then…



Restate your opening argument

Summarise your argument

Suggest how to implement the action- with a prediction, question, recommendation or quotation





Main Points to Consider



Make your position very clear

Write in a persuasive manner

Open with a strong argument

Summarise your points at the end

Give background information if possible/ necessary

Include your rebuttal of the opposing argument
